Nearly 1.5 million New Yorkers, including one in five children, don’t know where their next meal will come from. We hope to change that one meal at a time. One community fridge at a time.

Fighting Food Waste And The Direct Impact In Fighting Food Insecurity

WHAT IS FOOD INSECURITY?

‍Food insecurity does not simply mean a lack of any food—it can also refer to a lack of nutritious food. 1 in 5 Americans currently experience food insecurity, an equivalent to 35.2 million people in the U.S.  The number of food insecure individuals in New York City is projected to increase by more than 44 percent due to COVID-19.

HOW DOES FOOD RESCUE HELP FIGHT INSECURITY?

The USDA estimates that 30-40 percent of the food supply in the United States goes to waste every year. At every step of the supply chain, food goes to waste.

Stuff4good proudly rescues food from farms, restaurants, supply chains and more, stores and transforms the produce into healthy and culturally sensitive hot home-cooked meals, then distribute them to fridges, pantries and food insecure individuals around the city.

By increasing our rescue and distribution mission we are able to create an ecosystem that reduces waste and hunger.
